Big Pharma Finally Taking Big Steps to Reach Patients With Digital

Big Pharma Finally Taking Big Steps to Reach Patients With Digital.
‘Rather than advertise to these people,’ Mr. Joseph said. ‘We opted to join the community.’

When it comes to internet marketing, ‘You have to think differently about your activities. You have to engage them, you have to partner with them on their agenda,’ said Dorothy Wetzel, the former consumer marketing chief at Pfizer who is the co-founder of Extrovertic, an independent healthcare marketing shop. ‘You have to develop talk-worthy programs, think about customer experience as the new way to use acquisition, and create a digital megaphone.’

Loreen Babcock, CEO of Omnicom Group”s Unit 7, a relationship- marketing agency, said the pharmaceutical industry not only needs to embrace new media and social networking because of their relevance, but also as a chance to rebuild trust between consumers and an industry that quite often ranks with oil companies and big tobacco on the popularity scale.more

More work needed on city sign ordinance

More work needed on city sign ordinance.
‘We have a few events, like our upcoming Vacation Bible School, in which we use the sign to advertise as well,’ he said. ‘I”m all in favor of beautifying the city, but I don”t think this is a wise decision personally.’

Council member Sam Glover said if the landlord doesn”t allow for a permanent sign to be put up, Strader could apply for a variance to keep the current sign.

Mayor Ann Bradshaw added the council has been discussing making changes to the ordinance and a work session has been scheduled for Wednesday, June 24, at 5:30 p.m., to address the matter further.

Meanwhile, the council considered an option to re-establish the city”s Cumulative Capital Development Fund at $.05 per $100 of assessed value, starting in 2010.

City Clerk-Treasurer Karen McQueen said the current rate is set at $.0286, and the increase would create additional funding for the city.more

Adware Stalks Torrents, Social Networks

Adware Stalks Torrents, Social Networks.
The terms dictate that users are willing to affix signature-borne advertising messaging to all of their outgoing and incoming e-mails, as well as all of the posts that they make to blogs, forums and social networking sites.

And oh yeah, pay $3-5 per month for the privilege of doing so.

For starters, Brandt points out that factors that determine at what speed someone can download a torrent - such as network congestion - can”t be improved in the manner that the BittorrenBooster program proposes to speed performance.

Beyond that, after you sign up for the service, which requires that your computer is running on Windows 2000 XP or Vista, the EULA also requires you to tolerate browser pop-up ads and be willing to have the service change your default browser search settings.more

Tom Hamilton, the borough”s human resources/risk manager, said he didn”t even have to advertise for jobs this year and the applications poured in.’My feeling was that we would have had hundreds,’ he said.Carlisle hired nine non-pool workers for the summer - four college and five high school students - which is the seasonal average, Hamilton said.In total, about 50 employees were hired by the parks and recreation department, with approximately 60 percent of those for the community pool, said Andrea Crouse, the department”s director. Advertisements for breast milk alternatives banned

Advertisements for breast milk alternatives banned.
Television channels are not allowed to advertise more than 5% of the daily broadcasting time. Advertisements are not permitted to interfere with news programmes or programmes under 15 minutes. Shows between 15-30 minutes can have one advertising break, two for those from 30 to 60 minutes, three for those of over 60 minutes, with each breaking being five minutes at maximum.

The Vietnam Journalists” Association Office chief Dong Quang Tien said many print newspapers are facing financial difficulties so compilers need to be aware of the new rule.

Tien also said that it is unnecessary to force online newspapers to post advertisements on the left and right sides only because the lay-out of each site is different.

The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism said that the draft Law on Advertising will be submitted to the Ministry of Justice in July and to the National Assembly in the session later this year.more

Planning commissioners declines to support Tecce tract zoning change

Planning commissioners declines to support Tecce tract zoning change.
Because the planning commission is an advisory board without real power, however, the township commissioners could still vote to advertise the proposed revision to the zoning code.Currently, the Tecce tract is governed by a zoning overlay requiring Nolan”s development to be restricted to residents over age 55. The overlay, negotiated by the township and the developer, provides for a greater density of housing on the property than would be allowed under the previous zoning regulations in exchange for the age restriction, which lowers ‘the intensity of use,’ zoning officer Rob Dunlop said in an interview April 7.’The theory is … you”re going to have fewer occupants per unit, fewer trips generated for traffic impact, community demand for services will not be the same - you”re not sending kids to the school district,’ he said. The new ordinance would do away with the age qualification and replace it with language codifying the design of the home and the surrounding property in ways that would make the development more attractive to ‘empty-nesters’ than to couples raising children, thereby preserving the intent of the current overlay, Weiss said. With little yard space next to the homes, narrow streets, no playgrounds, limited sidewalks and large master bedrooms on the first floors, the homes would be ‘age-targeted’ and would likely differ from the ‘age-restricted’ homes only in that some of the residents would be in their 40s, Weiss said.’Age-restricted’ not only limits the group of potential buyers to those over 55, but also makes buyers nervous about their ability to resell the homes in the future, he said.’In today”s economy, since the housing market bottomed out, it”s become obvious to real estate developers and to state and federal governments that age-restricted has become something not practical for development,’ Weiss said.more
